Smarter supplier collaboration at Crimppi with Jakamo

By moving supplier communication and data into one shared platform, Crimppi has improved collaboration and strengthened supply chain sustainability – freeing time to focus on strategic supplier relationships.

From decision to daily use in just a few months

The decision to take the supplier collaboration platform Jakamo into use was made at the end of 2024, and within just a few months the platform was fully integrated into Crimppi’s procurement processes.
“By April, we were already using it in daily operations,” says Anne Mäki, Purchasing Engineer at Crimppi. “The rollout was smooth thanks to Jakamo’s excellent support, which guided us through integration, data setup, and training for both our staff and suppliers – and that support has continued after implementation.”

Automating workflows frees up time for what matters

Before the collaboration platform was introduced, purchase orders were sent as PDFs via email, with confirmations and changes handled manually. Now, the entire process runs through the platform: orders are sent automatically, suppliers confirm them in the platform, and buyers are alerted only if something changes.
“This platform eliminates a lot of manual typing and email back-and-forth,” says Mäki. “It frees up time for maintaining supplier relationships, running competitive bidding, and responding to enquiries faster.”

Handovers during holidays are also smoother. “This summer, I was able to go on holiday without concern, knowing my substitute could access everything needed to continue the work seamlessly.”

Getting to know our suppliers – and their sustainability credentials

Beyond efficiency, Jakamo also helps Crimppi get to know its suppliers better from a sustainability perspective.
“Through Jakamo, suppliers can share their own sustainability data such as certificates and environmental compliance documents,” Mäki explains. “If we decide in the future that we will only buy from suppliers with an environmental certificate, we can easily check who qualifies. And if a customer requires our entire supply chain to meet certain sustainability criteria, this will help us get there.”

Crimppi also uses Jakamo to collect sustainability data about materials, such as information about conflict materials or other restricted substances. “Over time, this will enable us to calculate the total carbon footprint of our products – also when it comes to the Scope 3 emissions,” Mäki adds.

Shared data strengthens collaboration

The portal’s shared, real-time view of data has made collaboration with suppliers more transparent and efficient.

With all information stored in one place, nothing gets lost in individual inboxes. Pending requests are visible to everyone, so if one buyer is unavailable, another can step in and take action without delay.

“Key suppliers are already on board, and many were familiar with Jakamo from working with other customers,” says Anne. “That has made adoption easier – and the fact that the portal is free and simple for suppliers to use is a big plus.”

When strategy becomes everyday practice

The collaboration platform is more than a digital tool. It supports Crimppi’s strategy to be a leading partner in the electrical and electronics industry. By strengthening traceability, speeding up processes, and embedding sustainability into procurement, the platform reinforces the company’s core strengths and gives customers even greater value.

“Taking Jakamo into use has been the biggest leap forward since we implemented our ERP system – especially for procurement,” says Mäki. “We’ve only been using the platform for a few months, but the benefits are clear. And there’s still so much more we can do with it.”
